“Housing is a human right.“

Fair Hausing Drive

Fair Hausing Drive is a depiction of everyday life where individuals, couples, and families with marginalized identities are living and thriving in mutuality with full and equitable access to safe, clean, and healthy housing. It is a vision of a future neighborhood free from barriers of discrimination and belonging. A neighborhood where everyone is in community, caring for themselves and each other.

Housing is a human right. It is the foundation from which all other rights stem: the right to education, to transportation, to work, to access to health services and to building community. Safe, secure and affordable housing for all is fundamental to a just and free society. We created this mural in collaboration with the Human Rights Commission.

The Human Rights Commission enforces Vermont’s anti-discrimination laws in housing, places of public accommodations and state government employment. Its mission is to promote full civil and human rights. If you have experienced discrimination, you can file a complaint here: Home Page | Human Rights Commission (vermont.gov)
